  • Guided Walk- Ames Nowell State Park

    Ames Nowell State Park   Date: Saturday, October 15, 2022  Time: 9:00am-10:30am  Cost: Member: Free, Non-member: $5  Meeting Place: Parking lot at Linwood Street, Abington, MA.  Exploring the northern part of the Taunton River Watershed, TRWA volunteers will lead a walk near the Cleveland Reservoir to observe turtles, birds and wetland plants. We will scoop some water from the reservoir edge to see who lives in it. Medium hike. Wear sturdy footwear. Not stroller friendly. Restrooms available. Pups on leash welcome.     Have you heard we protected 30 terrapin nests this summer? Do you know how the current drought has effected our water sampling results or the river herring?        Enjoy this easy 1-hour walk, led by TRWA member Ellenor Simmons, through the Dighton Rock State Park forest and along the Taunton River looking for winter plants, mosses, and ferns.   • EARTH DAY Clean Up Event

    Join TRWA, in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation (DCR), in cleaning up the river banks of the Taunton River at Sweets Knoll State Park. Meeting Place- TRWA Watershed Center parking lot Families welcome! We will be cleaning up during low tide which is anticipated between 2:30 - 4:30 pm. Please no dogs. The area will be wet, so rubber boots needed. Trash bags will be available. Bring protective work gloves and litter grabbers if you have them.
