Herring Life Cycle Tour

Join Middleborough-Lakeville Herring Fishery Commissioners Dave Cavanaugh & Tom Barron as they narrate a 3-stop tour on the Nemasket River. We’ll begin at the Wareham Street Herring Run to learn about the herring life cycle and history, then head to the spawning are at Assawompset Pond Dam. We’ll end at Oliver Mill Park where herring appear prior to reaching the Wareham Street Herring Run. Registration required.
- Meeting Location: Wareham Street Herring Run
- Gear: Wear sturdy shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.
- Parking: Available on site.

- Price and Audience: Free. Open to all ages. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
- Restrooms: None on site. Nearby restrooms are at Town Hall (near the Wareham St. ladder and Oliver Mill) or a restaurant.
- Distance: All locations would involve driving from one to the other. Carpooling would be good. Oliver Mill is one and a half miles from Wareham St. ladder and the APC complex (either the dam, or between the lakes) is four or five miles.
