Mass Wildlife fisheries biologists ask citizens to report any fish kills in area water bodies. Seasonally there are times when natural fish kills occur, due to low oxygen levels, primarily just around ice-out time and during long stretches of high temperatures in the summer.
To report a fish kill, provide the name of the water body, town in which it is located as well as number of fish and fish species involved.
Fish kills in freshwater should be reported to the appropriate MassWildlife district office: Southeast District 508-759-3406 located at 195 Bournedale Road, Buzzards Bay, MA 02532 or to the MassWildlife Westboro Field Headquarters (508) 792-7270.
Fish kills outside the hours of Monday – Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm can be reported to the Massachusetts Environmental Police Radio Room (800) 632-8075.
Fish kills in marine waters can be reported to the MA Division of Marine Fisheries (508) 563-1779 or to the MEP Radio room.
