| What is a Watershed?
A watershed is a geographic area in which every drop of rain flows toward a river on its way to the sea A watershed is like a bowl that catches rain and sends it to the ocean. Streams and brooks join to become the smaller rivers, or tributaries, which eventually meet to become the Taunton River. The Taunton River Watershed includes all or part of 43 communities in southeastern Massachusetts including this quiet scene in Middleborough. Our watershed runs from Brockton and Avon in the north to Fall River and Somerset in the south, from Foxboro and Wrentham in the west, to Plymouth and Carver in the east. If you live in the Taunton River basin, you are one of about 500,000 people to call our watershed home!
